RADM SAMUEL LIN AWARD
This award is presented to a member of the Commissioned Corps
grade 0-5 and higher or an equivalent Civil Service professional who
has made significant contribution to the advancement of the Nation's
health, demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities, and has
displayed dedication and involvement in health-related professional,
community organizations or activities. This award honors RADM Samuel
Lin who was instrumental in founding the APAOC as a formally recognized
group by the Surgeon General. Due to his exceptional skills and
contributions to public health he was promoted to Rear Admiral in 1982
at the age of 37 and continued to serve with distinction in the Office
of Minority Health and Office of Intergovernmental Affairs until his
retirement in 1994.
