INTRODUCTION
The Asian Pacific American Officers Committee was originally established in
1990 and charted in 1993. The APAOC is administered under the Office of Surgeon
General (OSG) and is one of four advisory groups of Minority Officers Liaison
Council (MOLC). The MOLC provides advice and recommendations on minority
issues to the Surgeon General of the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS).
BACKGROUND
The Asian Pacific American Officers Committee is very proud of their history
and heritages as part of the U.S Public Health Services. The APAOC has been
intricately involved with the formation and establishment of the MOLC
in support of all of the minority officers organizations.
The APAOC is a diverse Asian Pacific American group, representing ancestral
roots from many countries in Asia and Pacific Islands. We are unique, in
that many of the APAOC members were born outside of these United States
and immigrated into this country. We have become physicians, pharmacists,
dentists, sanitarians, veterinarians, dietitians, therapists, nurses,
scientists, engineers, and Health Services professions, all collectively
working with the same set of core values to enhance the Commissioned Corps.
